The African Coalition of Communities Responsive to Climate Change (ACCRCC) is an African, regional non-profit organization. Established in 2013, the organization changed its name in 2022 to broaden its focus and strategy. ACCRCC works with grassroots communities and partners to engage and lobby for policies that address mental health in climate-related humanitarian situations.
Habitable earth and resilient communities.
To advocate, conduct research, enhance capacity, mobilize resources, publish, and disseminate effective approaches to address climate change and mental health, while empowering communities towards sustainable climate action, health, and well-being.
To advocate for the inclusion of mental health, conflict resolution, health, security, and nutritional management in strategic planning and policy formulation that address the impact of Climate Change as an endeavor to contribute to reducing the burden in the Region for sustainable development.
ACCRCC develops strategies to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development visions, including the African Union's Agenda 2063. ACCRCC values scientific evidence, particularly from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and its Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), to inform advocacy programs and engagement strategies.
Climate change threatens the livelihoods of African people and communities. ACCRCC takes a comprehensive approach to building resilience to the economic, health, and developmental threats brought about by climate change.
ACCRCC is dedicated to enhancing the resilience of vulnerable populations in dealing with climate-related shocks and stresses. ACCRCC aims to tackle the underlying causes of vulnerability, improve systems supporting women and girls, and build long-term resilience.
We connect voices across our areas of work, engage stakeholders to find solutions, and encourage vulnerable front-line communities to participate in discussions.
ACCRCC operates a Climate Change and Health Platform (CCHP) with various capacities, focusing on climate-induced mental health stress, nutrition, and food security.
ACCRCC is governed by a Board of Directors who provide strategic guidance and a Senior Management Team that implements the organizational strategy.
ACCRCC is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
